“On the Edge” Book Review by E. Parker Hudson

on-the-edgeIn the grand scheme of things, when we think of demonic activity, we picture the red devil with the pitchfork. In my absence from posting, I have been reading quite a bit and praying. I hadn’t realized that I was under such a great attack. This post is about the victory of knowing that we do have the power of God in us: the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, the sword of the spirit to combat his attacks. I am talking about our thought life and the emotions that the devil uses to a great extent to keep us from walking in that power. He knows that when we truly get a hold of using the knowledge and power together, many will be saved. The Word says that the harvest is plenty but the workers are few. Why? Because many of us are fighting our own personal battles instead of standing in the gap for others. I have to say that I did feel the prayers of those who did pray for me. It makes me more sensitive to the fact that we should be praying even more so for our brothers and sisters in Christ, as well as the unsaved. Continue reading →

A Confident Woman_Book Review

The Confident WomanFinally, the book review for The Confident Woman by Joyce Meyer. It has been a bit of time since reading the book. However, in dealing with the challenges that I was facing, the book truly helped me to keep my thoughts focused on the Word of God. Not only that, some of the information included was added to my daily spiritual declarations.

The book is broken down into two parts. The first part deals with confidence and includes historical information on the feminist movement. It is very interesting reading and includes contributions women have made to all aspects of life including education, science and politics. Joyce does a great job of breaking down things with simplicity and humor. She expertly applies Biblical principles from the Word of God to define what it means to be a confident woman in Christ. Her testimony is a catalyst from which she gives relative truth.

Book Review_Saved By Angels

Saved by AngelsThis review is on Saved by Angels, written by Bruce Van Atta. This is an excellent book to read about the testimony of another believer and be inspired by his journey. Most important though is how it is relative to us all in this spiritual journey. He relates quite effectively because he is very honest about his responses to God. His story is amazing and while I feel eager to share a significant experience he had with the angels, I hold back because it is a reading experience you have to have for yourself. The first chapter talks about major events in his journey with God. He is easy to read but powerful and provocative none-the-less.

As I complete the Faithing It book by Cora Jakes Coleman, the next book on the list is “Saved by Angels”, author Bruce Van Natta. I have never read anything from this author so hopefully this should be a real treat. The book blurb is how God talks to be people everyday. I would love to have someone join me in this read if you are interested. There is a DVD and study questions for anyone who wants to use as a group study. Continue reading…!

She has a boldness and a flair for writing about faith, from her experience and learning the Word of God in a household that grew up in the faith of God. Her father is T.D. Jakes, an amazing man of God. And, her mother is an impressive woman of God who has also made her imprint for the faith in being an awesome wife, a mother and woman of faith. You can find out more about this wonderful woman of God on her website, corajakescoleman by clicking the link.

Faith and Purpose

Woke up this morning, got my coffee and checked my email. Having been in a conversation with God about a certain area of my life I have been dealing with, I came across the following book by TD Jakes’ daughter, Cora Jakes Coleman entitled “Faithing It.” The title caught my eye and I downloaded a copy from BookBub e-books account for free. For those of you interested, you can sign up on the Bookbub website by clicking the highlight. Also, you can find out more about Cora Jakes Coleman by clicking the link. Not that I don’t have enough to read with my awesome blogging community, but this book title caught my attention.
