Sunshine & Rain…Thank You, Lord for Both

20160410_191241The past few days have been cloudy, rainy and a little cold. Springtime in Vegas for a minute. I took the images included here and as you can see, sometimes the clouds seem looming and dark. Kind of like this life and the journey we are on. We need them both. Appreciation for the sunshine is taken for granted until the rainy and gloomy days hit. There seems to be a true, heartfelt appreciation when the sun shines again.

However, being truthful about these days of ours, sometimes the rain is so needed. It causes us to slow down. To pause and appreciate the care that needs to be taken. Gives a totally different mindset. Since the distance to work is much longer, it is very necessary to proceed with caution. Even the mindset regarding the things I need to remain mindful of about my car come to the forefront. You know, this brings to mind the book review on Faithing It done last month about respecting the process of the journey. The rainy days are a necessity for the process.

20160412_120757Then, oh my goodness, when the sunshine comes! You feel the warmth, and enjoy the brightness. You seem to tell the sun, “I miss you.” The difference is amazing. But the growth from the rainy days includes appreciation, thankfulness, joy and excitement when the sun shines. The blue of the sky is even more appreciated when the sun shines. (No one can beat God with the true colors of nature!)

  2. Great picture you painted. Also, the rainy days are how God waters the plants that make the world beautiful. It inconveniences us, but it is nothing more than God renewing and giving life to all things. I agree, one good thing about the rain is it makes us slow down. In our house, games and practices get canceled, freeing up schedules. What a blessing!

    1. You know, you capture a picture and never fully realize what others will like about it. I like the atmosphere as well. I saw the image of the sky and everything around it, liked it and caught it. Thanks!

  5. “No one can beat God with the true colors of nature.” I like that! How very true! I also thought of the song by the Hawkins, Be Grateful, which encourages us to be grateful for both the sun and the rain. Thanks for the reminder.

  6. Without the combination of sunshine and rain we wouldn’t be able to enjoy those beautiful rainbows…

    1. So very, very true. There is always something awesome about a rainbow. It represents the first covenant God made with man.

  7. So true. So true.

Had I not lost everything during those dark cloudy stormy days last year (job, income, home, savings, credit, credibility, friends, …) I would not be here now: happy, living a smaller simpler life, and meeting inspired and inspiring souls like yourself.

May God continue to bless you, dear.

    1. Hi, Kitsy. Thank you for reading my posts. I thoroughly enjoy meeting new bloggers here and look forward to reading more from you. The loss thing. Job can attest to that. He lost everything. However, we know that God can replace all and then some. I can appreciate learning to live simpler. We are certainly taking nothing with us. May God continue to bless you as well and talk with you soon!
